An original pair of Tanzaku size woodblock Poem Cards by Fukui Hotei (1856 – 1938). A rooster is depicted on one poem card and a pair of doves on the other. Printed on thick hand made washi circa 1900. Artist signature and seal on both woodblock prints. Some toning and wormage (see images).
Approximate Dimensions of each woodblock print are 36.5 cm height and 6 cm width.

Kotei also illustrated books and scrolls and specialised in flowers, birds and landscapes. He was a pupil of Gyokusho and taught at the Tokyo School of Fine Arts in 1901. His real name was Shinnosuke.
