RATING
A rare Antique Japanese Haisen lacquer bowl. Traditionally used as washing bowls for sake cups it is highly detailed. Hand crafted from a single piece of wood (probably cypress), these Sake lacquer washing bowls are hard to find.. The bowl is hand painted with painstaking detail in real gold pigment lacquer designs and medallions, on black Urushi lacquer base. Estimated to be from the Meiji era given the detailed workmanship and symbols. There is some minor wear to parts of the bowl given its age (please see images).
Approximate dimensions Antique Japanese Haisen Lacquer bowl are diameter 15.5 cm and height 8.3 cm.
Shipping is via Australia Post with tracking and signature.
