An original woodblock print by Eiichi Kotozuka titled “Toji Pagoda”.  It depicts the 57 metre tall wooden pagoda in the grounds of the Toji Temple in Kyoto and reputed to be the tallest pagoda in Japan. A popular Temple for locals and visitors, the grounds are host to many traditional rituals as well as an antique market.   Published by Uchida Art Company Ltd in the 1940s – 1950s.  The artist and publisher seal are on the upper right of the print which is in very good condition.

Approximate Print Dimensions are 40 cm height and 27 cm width.

Approximate Sheet dimensions are 45 cm height and 30 cm width.

Eiichi_Kotozuka 1906 – 1979

Kotozuka studied at the Kyoto Specialist School of Painting. He was one of four artists who co-founded a co-op publishing house called Koryokusha in the 1940s.  The other three artists were  Tokuriki, Tobei and Tosobura.
