Antique Signed Scroll Mandarin Duck And Blossoms
An antique Japanese signed Scroll hand painted on silk and depicting a Mandarin Duck on a branch of flowering Plum Blossoms. Believed to be from mid to late Edo era the roller has bone ends and ships with the original paulownia box. The upper crosspiece known as hyoumoku is karaki wood. The lower crosspiece also known as jiku has bone roller ends. The artwork is also in good condition. Some signs of water damage on one side of the scroll and toning to the artwork (please see images).
Silk brocade strips also frame the artwork at the top and bottom. The backing of the scroll is made from hand made washi which is traditionally used in all antique scrolls.
Approximate dimensions are 180 cm length and 47.5 cm width and the length of the roller is 52 cm.
This item will be carefully rolled and packed for shipping in a tube. Shipping is via Australia Post and includes tracking and signature on delivery.
