Born in the Shizuoka prefecture at the age of 19 Sano Seiji moved to Kyoto to study under textile designer Sano Takeshi. In 1984 he took up studies in woodblock print making under the famous Ido Masao. Today he lives and works in Kyoto and his work covers landscapes and scenes of nature. His work encompasses the natural beauty of rural Kyoto. His style is more detailed than Masao’s creations and he uses more muted colours.
