A pair of Showa era (early 1900s) Satsuma Plates. Hand painted with flowers, bamboo and a bird and in good condition with no cracks or chips. There are signs of some wear given the age of the plates (please see images).
The borders are intact showing minor signs of wear. The gold on the flowers and leaves on the larger plate have worn with time. The smaller plate also has some wear but retains more gold on the flowers and leaves. There is a small firing mark on the smaller plate. Signed Satsuma on the base of each plate. Sold as is.
Approximate dimensions of each plate are – Smaller Plate 19.5 cm, Larger Plate 25 cm
