A highly detailed and beautifully presented Original Woodblock Print by Katsuyuki Nishijima titled Folk Crafts Museum.  Nishijima has masterfully depicted the rooftops in his artwork in great detail.   Hand Signed, Hand Numbered and Hand Titled By The Artist in Pencil in the Bottom Margin. It Also Shows the Artists Red Shima Seal in the Bottom Right Hand Corner.

This print is numbered #169 of a Limited Edition of 500.  It is in excellent condition.  There is some  abrasion and surface loss to the washi on the top margin (see images).  Sold as is.

Katsuyuki Nishijima was born in 1945 in Yamaguchi Province of Japan.  From 1964 to 1968 he studied the art of Woodblock Prints in the studio of the Mikumo publishing house in Kyoto as well as exhibiting  his work with the Kyoto independent artists and in solo displays.  From 1972 he focused his immense talents on limited edition woodblocks using traditional old buildings as his main subject matter.

Katsuyuki Nishijima’s woodblock prints are available in a number of formats. Nishijima’s larger works of art are mostly limited editions of 500 and all are hand signed and titled as well as numbered. He has also produced a number of open edition woodblocks since the mid 1970s.  These are also hand signed and titled and undated.
