Hiroshige woodblock Cherry Blossoms And Bird.  A pillar print from his “Birds and Flowers” series depicting a bird on a flowering cherry blossom branch. Hiroshige is considered to have produced his best work between 1832 and 1836 when he was aged 36  to 40.  Among these works are his flower and bird pictures many of which are framed in a vertical rectangle.  The woodblock print in very good and unused condition.

Originally printed in the 1830s this is a later print from the 1970s and is published by Uchida Art Company Ltd.

Approximate Dimensions of sheet 42.2 height and 15 cm width.

Approximate Dimensions of print are 38 cm height and 12.5 cm width.

Utagawa Hiroshige also known as  Andō Hiroshige  1797 to 1858.  Hiroshige was the last great master of the ukiyo-e tradition.

Hiroshige is famous for his landscapes as well as his depictions of birds and flowers.  He also created series such as the Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido and the Sixty-nine Stations of the Kiso Kaido.
