Sano Seiji 1959 –

Born in the Shizuoka prefecture at the age of 19 Sano Seiji moved to Kyoto to study under textile designer Sano Takeshi.  In 1984 he took up studies in woodblock print making under the famous contemporary woodblock print artist Ido Masao.  Today he lives and works in Kyoto and his work covers landscapes and scenes of nature around Kyoto and the surrounding country side.  Sano Seiji’s work encompasses the natural beauty of rural Kyoto. His style is more detailed than Masao’s creations and he uses more muted colours.
