Four Edo Era Shochikubai Imari Low Lipped Dishes

From our collection is this impressive late Edo era set of four 1790s to 1840s Shochikubai Imari low lipped dishes.  Finely hand painted in cobalt blue and white underglaze with detailed symbolic decoration.  The centrepiece features pine, plum and bamboo motifs symbolising three friends of winter and symbolising resilience and perservence.  Surrounding the centrepiece are intricate geometric patterns in cobalt blue.

In excellent condition with the expected sprinkling of kiln firing and glazing marks of Imari porcelain from this period and which are confirmation of authenticity.

The approximate dimensions of each bowl is 15.25 cm diameter and 4.5 cm height.   The total weight of four bowls is 1050 grams.
