Vintage Shibori Silk Kimono With Butterflies

A striking vintage Kimono made from Shibori Silk dyed deep purple with butterflies around the hem of the kimono and silk lined.

Single user provenance.  Made as part of a wedding trousseau in the early 1950s it has been carefully preserved.    The kimono was lovingly stored after a journey from Japan to a new home in Melbourne in the 1950’s.

In very good condition with minor signs of age.  The kimono does not appear to have had a lot of usage. Approximate dimensions:

• Mitake (length from shoulder to bottom) 148 cm
• Yuki (sleeve length from centre back to cuff) 67 cm
• Mihabi (width of back bodice) 61 cm
• Sodetake (vertical sleeve length) 56 cm
