Toshi Yoshida Woodblock Print Silver Pavilion Kyoto

A beautfully detailed woodblock print by Toshi Yoshida print showing the famous Silver Pavilion in Kyoto in spring. Also called Jinkaku Ji it depicts visitors strolling and seated enjoying the beautifully maintained traditional gardens.  The print is in excellent condition and has never been used and the title of the print is shown in English as well as Japanese.

Originally printed in 1951 this is a later reprint by printer Numabe Shinkichi of the Yoshida studio. Signed by the Artist in English in the margin and Japanese within the image (with chop).

The approximate dimensions of the print are 37.5 cm height and 24.5 cm width.

The approximate dimensions of the sheet are 40 cm height and 28 cm width.

Toshi Yoshida  –  1911-1995     

Toshi Yoshida was the eldest son of Hiroshi Yoshida.  He travelled extensively all over the world and often with his father.  His trips took him to the USA and Canada, India, Africa as well as Australia and even to the Antarctica.  Yoshida’s body of work was primarily landscapes and animals depicted in a realistic style.

After the death of his father Hiroshi Yoshida he even experimented in abstract art for a while
eventually returning to creating realistic landscape prints.
