Toshi Yoshida Woodblock Print Hyoroku

One of Toshi Yoshida’s best works.  Lanterns cast an atmospheric glow over the traditional buildings and street along Hyoroku highlight women in  traditional attire.

First printed in 1951.  This is a later reprint from the original woodblocks by printer Numabe Shinkichi of the Yoshida studio. Signed by the Artist in English in the margin and Japanese within the image (with chop).

The print is in excellent condition and has never been used.

The approximate dimensions of the print are 37.5 cm height and 24.5 cm width.

The approximate dimensions of the sheet are 40.5 cm height and 28 cm width.

Toshi Yoshida  –  1911-1995     

Toshi Yoshida was the eldest son of Hiroshi Yoshida and travelled extensively all over the world and often with his father.  His trips took him to the USA and Canada, India, Africa as well as Australia and even to the Antarctica.  Yoshida’s body of work was primarily landscapes and animals which he depicted in a realistic style.

After the death of his father Hiroshi Yoshida he also experimented in abstract art for a while
eventually returning to creating realistic landscape prints.
