A genuine Woodblock Print by Teruhide Kato of Sagano Road. It depicts the bamboo forest in Arashimaya surrounding the ancient 14th century Tenryu-Ji Temple. Also near by is the iconic Togetsukyō Bridge and the secluded Jojakko-Ji Temple is also hidden among the forest.
In excellent condition, never used, unframed, hand printed on washi, traditional Japanese paper, with ink bleed through to the reverse. The print bears Kato’s stamp (done by his wife since his passing) and the seal of the publisher Unsodo.

ARTIST: TERUHIDE KATO
Born in 1936 Kato studied at Kyoto Art College and enjoyed a successful career as a Kimono Designer in the 1960s and 1970s.
At the age of 50 he decided to become a traditional woodblock artist which had been his long held dream. Kato is best known for his contemporary woodblock shin-hanga prints of his native town Kyoto.
