Signed Satsuma Japanese Koro Incense Burner

A very striking three legged Signed Satsuma Koro from early 20th Century Japan.  Featuring elephants on the handles and carefully hand detailed open work design on the body as well as the lid.  Hand painted underglaze with blossoms surrounded by gold pigment around the neck of the koro and signed and stamped Satsuma underneath.  Fine firing crack on rim originating from kiln manfacture of koro (please see images).

Signed Satsuma Japanese Koro Incense Burner

A very stunning three legged Signed Satsuma Porcelain Koro from early 20th Century Japan. Believed to be the work of Sakashita Kouseki. Featuring elephants on the handles and carefully hand detailed open work design on the body as well as the lid.  Hand painted underglaze with blossoms as well as gold pigment around the neck of the koro and signed and stamped Satsuma underneath.  Fine firing crack on rim originating from kiln manfacture of koro (please see images).

A beautiful koro with such fine and detailed open work and in such good condition.

Approximate dimensions of koro are height 12.5 cm and width 15 cm with handles and diameter 11.5 cm. Weight of koro is 348 grams.
