Sano Seiji Woodblock Print Kumano Kodo

A large Oban sized Signed Woodblock Print by Sano Seiji titled “Kumano Kodo”.  A very evocative limited edition print, pencil signed and titled in Japanese. This print is numbered 138/950 in the bottom margin and is in very good condition.

The Kumano Kodo path is a very significant spiritual pilgrimate route.  Rays of sun light the ancient stone path on the very beautiful pilgrimate route.  There is a torii gate in the distance between the tall woodland trees.

The approximate Dimensions of the sheet are  47 cm Width and 32 cm Height

Sano Seiji 1959 – 

Born in the Shizuoka prefecture at the age of 19 Sano Seiji moved to Kyoto to study under textile designer Sano Takeshi.  In 1984 he took up studies in woodblock print making under the famous Ido Masao.  Today he lives and works in Kyoto and his work covers landscapes and scenes of nature.  His work encompasses the natural beauty of rural Kyoto. His style is more detailed than Masao’s creations and he uses more muted colours.
