A very striking Tengu Noh Theatre Mask from Japan. Hand carved from a single piece of wood and covered in red lacquer with real horse hair on his eyebrows, moustache and beard. A label bearing the maker’s mark is on back of the mask. Black lacquer highlights over his eyes and gold lacquer around his eyes.
A small repair to the lacquer to on the left edge of the mask above the purple cord.
