Old Buddhist Folding Travellers Shrine
An old Buddhist folding shrine hand carved with ornate detail. Featuring flowers and Japanese letters intricately hand carved on the outside of each folding panel. The inside panels are all hand carved with great detail and feature deities surrounded by their entourage.
The shrine in very good condition, showing signs of age and use. All the hinges are intact (please see images). Approximate dimensions are Height 15.5 cm, width (open) 20 cm and weight 659 grams.
The signature carved on the base is Kenryu nen-sei which signifies a period from 1735 to 1796, however we are unable to confirm the age of the shrine.
