A 20 cm hand carved and signed covered lacquer container using Miyajima zaiku woodworking technique. The Miyajima zaiku woodworking technique can be traced back to the early 1800s.   Intricately hand carved background with a scribe and young deity under a large flowering plum tree.  There is beautiful detail on the robes on the scribe and the tree. Flowering plum blossoms signify the advent of spring.

There are carved botanical emblems around the side of the bowl which is in very good condition. Some scratches and marks as detailed in images tell a story and add to its character.  The beauty of its artwork continues to inspire.
