Late Meiji Kutani Daruma Bodhidharma

Kutani Porcelain Daruma Bodhidharma 達磨 figurine from the Late Meiji period 1880 -1900s.  Wearing saffron and crimson robes and carrying a flywhisk in right hand. A turquoise blue amulet on his chest signifies great personal achievements.

The Monk Bodhidharma is the founder of Zen Buddhism.  The Daruma is traditionally used in Japanese culture to symbolise one’s goals, actions, and outcomes.
