Large Meiji Bronze Shishi Temple Lion Signed Shoun

A large and imposing Bronze Shishi Temple Lion Signed Shoun by Yamaguchi Shôun from the Meiji Era.  WIth excellent details and a dark brown patinated finish, holding a large blooming peony (botan) in its mouth. In a playful stance with its forearms and chest on the ground and its hind legs upright.  The hair on its erect tail and mane is skilfully designed in wavy lines. Signed Shôun 照雲.

The approximate dimensions of this exceptional Bronze Shishi Okimono are width 26 cm height 23 cm.  The weight is 3.93 kilos.
