A large signed Bronze figure of Daikokuten. The God of Wealth and Good Fortune is an imposing figure as he stands astride rice bales with a treasure sack over his left shoulder and wielding a magic money mallet upraised in his right hand.
This large and imposing Antique Japanese Bronze figure of Daikokuten 大黒天 the God of Wealth is signed by the artist and is one of the Seven Lucky Gods of Fortune (Fukujin) He dates from the Meiji Era c. 1870 – 1890s
Daikokuten is understood to have evolved from the Hindu deity Shiva. The God of Wealth carries a ‘wealth-pounding’ golden mallet in his right hand and a treasure sack over his left shoulder and is wearing a flat black hat. He is an imposing figure as he stands astride his rice bales. He wears a wide faced smile of happiness and contentment.
The common belief is that Daikokuten invites wealth, good fortune and happiness to your family. A substantial and significant hand made quality bronze figure.
Weighs 4100 grams and is approximately 14.7 inches tall, 5.9 inches deep and 4.3 inches wide.
