Kuniyoshi Mounted Woodblock Evening Cool

A beautifully carved and detailed mid 20th century Oban size woodblock print by Utagawa Kuniyoshi.  Titled Evening Cool it is a genuine polychrome woodblock print (nishiki-e) ink and colour pigment on washi paper and has excellent detail as well as colours.  The print is also in excellent condition for its age.  Publisher – Arita-ya Selemon,  Censor Watari

From the series Pleasures of Women at the Height of the Four Seasons.  (Shiki no kokoro onna asobi). A beautiful woman and her son are depicted on a Summer evening by the Sumida River at dusk and there are fireworks in the background.  The print is in excellent condition.

Mounted to museum conservation standard.   Print tipped to acid free foam core backing and mat by rice paper hinges upper corners and wheat flour starch adhesive.
