Koichi Okada’s depiction of the view of Nihondaira with Mount Fuji in the background. The snow capped mountain is a striking backdrop towering over Lake Kawaguchi and the night lights from the hamlet of Nihondaira in the foreground.
In excellent condition, never framed. Originally printed in the 1940s. This is a hand printed woodblock print from the original woodblocks on traditional washi with ink bleed through to the reverse.
Signed with the artists seal as well as the Publisher’s seal (Unsodo) on the left margin of the print. The Kento Cut on the bottom right of the print is further authentication as an Unsodo print.
Approximate Dimensions of Print Height 36.5 cm and Width 24 cm. Approximate Dimensions of Sheet Height 41.5 cm and Width 28 cm.

ARTIST: Koichi Okada (1907 – 1991)
Koichi Okada was a Japanese landscape artist who created a series of woodblock prints of Japan during the late 1940s. Born in Tokyo, Okada studied with Ishii Hakutei and Arishima Ikuma. Okada is best known known for his strikingly detailed woodblock prints landscapes featuring Mount Fuji.
