A Teruhide Kato Woodblock titled The Approach to Jakko In Temple.  Also referred to as Stair Way to Kiyomizu In Autumn. In new and unused condition. Jakko In temple is located north of Kyoto in Ohara. Hand printed on washi, traditional Japanese paper, with good ink bleed through to the verso.  The red stamp of the Artist is on the lower right of the print.  Originally published by Unsodo in 1989 this is a later print from the original woodblocks.

ARTIST:  TERUHIDE KATO

Born in 1936 Kato studied at Kyoto Art College and enjoyed a successful career as a Kimono Designer in the 1960s and 1970s.

At the age of 50 Kato fulfilled his long held dream of becoming a traditional woodblock artist.  He gained fame for his contemporary woodblock shin-hanga prints of his native town Kyoto.
