Hokusai Woodblock Fuji from Kanaya on the Tokaido Road

A rare Oban print from the famous Hokusai series “36 Views of Mount Fuji”.  The series depicts Mount Fuji from different locations and in various seasons and weather conditions.  Also the original 36 prints were very popular and as a consequence Hokusai expanded the series with another 10.

This is View 45 titled Fuji from Kanaya on the Tôkaidô (Tôkaidô Kanaya no Fuji) and has the Artisan Seal and Signature on the right margins.
