Bamboo branches are decorated with strips of paper with poems and dedications lashed to rooftops. Mount Fuji looms as a backdrop beyond the rooftops. A great contrast of colours in a very unusual woodblock print. Originally published in 1857 this woodblock was produced in mid 20th Century. The woodblock print in very good overall condition.

Utagawa Hiroshige also known as Andō Hiroshige 1797 to 1858. Hiroshige was the last great master of the ukiyo-e tradition.
Hiroshige is famous for his landscapes as well as his depictions of birds and flowers. He also created series such as the Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido and the Sixty-nine Stations of the Kiso Kaido.
