Hajime Namiki Large Woodblock Weeping Cherry Blossoms 29

Weeping Cherry Blossoms 29 is a large and beautifully executed woodblock print by Hajime Namiki.  Born in 1947 he initially trained as a sculptor and turned to making woodblock prints in 1978. Using traditional woodblock methods, he carves and prints his own blocks. Using Torinoko paper and oil based pigments his beautiful scenes of nature feature a gold or silver background. Namiki’s has masterfully captured the soul and beauty of nature using a contemporary style. A cherry blossom tree with masses of cascading blossoms set against a striking silver background portray a feeling of the lushness of nature in this large horizontal woodblock print. This print is number 73 of a limited edition of 200 marked with the year it was made in 2024.  The title written in Japanese and the artists pencil signature and red seal are on the lower margin .  The print is in excellent condition and has never been used.

The approximate dimensions of the print are 52.5 cm width and 35 cm height.  The approximate dimensions of the sheet are 60 cm width and 43 cm height.
