A large lacquer document box ornately detailed with Gold Chrysanthemums and Mother of Pearl by Hougetsu. Using Black Urushi Lacquer on the base the lid has been decorated with gold lacquer Chrysanthemums, leaves and Mother of Pearl. Made in the early 1900’s (1920 to 1930) it comes with the original paulownia box. Both the document box and the box it is in are in very good condition with no cracks or dents. A work of art to be admired and cherished.
Approximate dimensions are 26 cm length and 20 cm width and the height is 4.3 cm. The approximate weight of the document box is 628 grams and 1140 grams with the wooden paulownia box.
