A striking Wari-kōgai made from finely carved bronze depicting a dragon with gold eyes and detailed scroll work. The Wari-kōgai (割笄)  is an ornament worn in the hair by Samurai and also carried in the scabbard with a Japanese sword.  Also known as a sword-needle it could split to form a pair of chopsticks called waribashi. Wari-kōgai became predominant from the Edo period.

Approximate dimensions are 20.5 cm length and 27 grams weight.

The Wari-kōgai Ships in an original kiri wood box. The total weight with box is 121 grams.
