Antique Tobacco Pouch With Dragon Clasp
A superlative and very fine Antique Japanese 1860s to 1880s Tobacco Pouch with Dragon Clasp from Japan’s Edo Era. The pouch has a heavy embossed Deer Hide outer and soft hand brushed Suede Deer Hide inner. Completed and finely finished by a hand tooled Bronze Clasp of a Dragon and Chrysanthemum with intricate Gold detail and signed by the craftsman on the verso. The pouch also comes complete with a beautifully hand woven bamboo Kiseru Pipe Holder in generous Urushi Lacquer. All is in amazing condition for the age and so rare to find for such a much used daily status important male accoutrement from the Japanese Edo Era.
