An Antique scroll by Tsurukawa depicting a Bluebird perched on a branch with flowering Chrysanthemums. Estimated to be the from early Meiji era. Hand painted ink on silk with washi backing and bone roller ends, in good overall condition.
Karaki wood has been used for the upper crosspiece (hyoumoku) as well as the roller (jiku). The (heri) mounting is silk and the silk brocade strips across the top as well as bottom of the artwork are called ichimoji. The scroll backing is washi and is traditionally used in all scrolls.
