An extremely rare and highly detailed Antique pair of beautiful Geisha Kanzashi Bira Bira hair ornaments. These Kanzashi appear to have been hand crafted during Japan’s late Edo to mid Meiji Era 1850s to 1890s and are delicately decorated with Gilt brass and Silver Sakura Cherry Blossom flowers, foliage and Natural Pink Coral.
The Kanzashi have long Silvered Streamers intersected with Gilded Butterflies which create a complex three dimensional Botanic Landscape. This landscape being a Purity of Art in capturing and beaming a dance of light beams with each movement. A truly stunning display intended to embellish and compliment the beauty of the wearer.
Condition is very good to excellent with one Kanzashi being very well preserved. The second Kanzashi is missing three streamers and a butterfly on a fourth streamer. Despite not being easily noticeable, our price reflects this. This Kanzashi pair however can easily be restored.
Of course, still being magnificent and beautiful as they are, they remain highly desirable and wearable works of Art from a generation and culture dedicated to ultra fine and detailed workmanship. Sold as is.
