A very finely detailed antique lacquer Chabako. Traditionally used to hold utensils along with sweet biscuits (Wagashi) and other treats. Hand carved from Paulownia wood with a rare hand decorated plum Urushi lacquer finish and edges decorated with black and gold Urushi lacquer beading. Expertly finished with black Urushi lacquer inside and on the tray which holds the tea ceremony tools. All the finely handcrafted tools are also in excellent condition. A tea caddy for storing Matcha, an Incense Container (kogo) and a whisk case for holding the whisk (chasen) are beautifully finished in black Urushi lacquer with plum and gold decorations.
The approximate dimensions are 21.3 cm Width and 15 cm Depth and 14.3 cm Height. The approximate weight is 673 grams.
