Antique Dancing Geisha Doll

A very delightful doll Japan’s Meiji era.  In a fluid dancing posture  wearing a brightly coloured hat and colourful silk robes. She appears to have real hair or silk tresses and crystal or glass eyes with a soulful expression.  Her face arms and lower legs are made from gofun (ground oyster shell).

Her upraised arm indicates that she could have been a hat dancer and she is in good overall condition.

Antique Dancing Geisha Doll

A very charming antique Geisha doll from late Meija era Japan (1880s to 1900).  Standing on a black urushi lacquer base with one foot raised in a dancing posture. Wearing a brightly coloured hat and colourful silk robes.  She also appears to have real hair and her eyes are crystal or glass with a soulful expression. Her head and arms as well as her lower legs are made from gofun (a mixture of ground oyster shell).

Her upraised arm indicates that she could have been a hat dancer and she is in good overall condition with minor age related marks and approximately 21 cm in height.
