A very rare and exotic Antique Bronze figure of Otafuku the Japanese Goddess of Mirth, Happiness and Luck. Also known as Okame or Uzume she also symbolizes sexuality and fertility.

Please note – This Okame is very frivolous as she has explicitly exposed herself below her finely decorated Kimono. She expresses charm and happiness.  Dates from the early Meiji Era Circa 1800s. Quite a conversation starter and in excellent condition for age as shown.

Antique Bronze Erotic Otafuku

A very rare and exotic Antique Bronze figure of Otafuku the Goddess of Mirth, Happiness and Luck. Also known as Okame and Uzume she symbolizes sexuality and fertility.

Please note – This Okame is very frivolous as she is explicitly exposing herself below her robes. She has great expression and charm and her kimono is finely decorated with local flora.  Otafuku dates from early Meiji Era Circa 1800s and is in excellent condition for her age as shown in images.

Approximate Dimensions: Diameter at base 13 cm and Height 11 cm. Weight of figurine 805 grams and total weight with box 1.2 kg

Known in Japanese Lore for her smile and chubby cheeks, red lips and dimples as well as the circles on her forehead depicting eyebrows. A curious character she is  a plump and homely and a cheery faced bringer of happiness. Often used as a good luck charm in many shrines across Japan Otafuku represents “Much Good Fortune”.  She also brings happiness and good fortune to the man she marries.

 

Otafuku first appeared between the 14th and 16th century.  Despite her homely appearance, her sincerity and purity of spirit melted the heart of even the most dangerous villian who underwent a change of heart by gazing at her face.
