Antique 54 cm Japanese Platter by Manabe

A very striking and large signed antique 54 cm Japanese Lacquered platter. Carved entirely by hand using a single piece of wood and finished with layers of lacquer.  The large oval low lipped plate is finely detailed with scalloped edges.  Eggplants on a vine are masterfully hand carved on the plate.  Used as a decoration the plate features the original string used to hang this wonderful artwork. Estimated to be from early 20th Century it is in excellent condition.
