A very striking and large signed antique 54 cm Japanese Lacquered platter by Manabe. Carved entirely by hand using a single piece of wood and finished with layers of lacquer. The large oval low lipped plate is finely detailed with scalloped edges. Eggplants on a vine are masterfully hand carved on the plate. Used as a decoration the plate features the original string used to hang this wonderful artwork. Estimated to be from early 20th Century it is in excellent condition. The name Manabe is carved on the verso of the platter.
