From our Japanese collection is this finely and intricately decorated Meiji Era Ando Studio Cloissone Vase. Using gold and shakudo wires and intersecting panels decorated with phoenix and dragons. The large size and Goldstone panels also attest to the quality of the vase. Gold “tea dust” pioneered by Honda Yosabura and later used by the great Namikawa Yasuyuki (1845 – 1927) is also sprinkled on each panel. Butterflies and lotus flowers decorate the top of the vase. The use of silver and gold as well as white metal fittings indicate a vase that was made without compromise. The vase is also in exceptional condition apart from one miniscule kiln bubble. Stamped with the mark of the renowed Ando Jubei Company, Tokyo & Nagoya. A beautiful and very striking addition to your collection.
