Kanzashi Jewellery Kimono And Unique Fabric Items

Kanzashi are delicate ornaments that decorate women’s hairdos. They originated in the Jōmon period (between 14,000 and 300 BC).  Artisans created beautiful combs (Kushi) and hairpins (Kogai) from silver, gilt, coral, tortoiseshell and wood gold lacquer.  The process of making a kanzashi is very meticulous and painstaking. Wearing a Kogai was considered to hold powers to ward off evil spirits. The Jōmon period also saw the introduction of hair combs (kushi).

Kasasagi also creates unique jewellery from hand crafted antique items. We personally source antique and vintage items which we transform into wearable works of art. We also offer a limited range of kimono as well as other unique Japanese Fabric items.
