Behind this unpretentious and unassuming facade is one of Melbourne’s very best Japanese Eateries and my favourite Japanese Cafe ever. For many years we have been fortunate enough to enjoy the traditional Japanese cuisine created with passion and love by this family business. The food at Satsuki Japanese Cafe is better than many eateries in Japan. Dont be fooled by its size, the food here packs and punch in flavour and quality. There are about 4 small tables if you want to eat inhouse, but be sure to book in advance.
Our last indulgence at Satsuki was delicious Prawn Gyoza’s and the best every Spicy Salt and Pepper Calamari Karaage. Unlike traditional Salt and Pepper Chinese dishes the Panko crumbs take this dish to next level. All their dishes are delicious and true to Japanese tradition. Their Chicken Karaage which is one of our mainstays is also delicious as is their Wafu Steak and Seafood dishes. In fact it would be unfair to single out any dishes as over the many years we have been enjoying their food they have all been delicious.
And last week I had the best every Creme Caramel at Satsuki. The desserts are limited so you would have to get in early to indulge.
Since Covid Satsuki have been operating three days a week for Lunch and Dinner on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. I hope that in the future they will be able to extend their opening days. I cannot recommend this eatery highly enough. It has been a mainstay for our family for over 20 years and the quality has stayed true to the Japanese committment of quality.
